Rockfall protection and prevention of natural hazards are essential for the security and safety of roads, railways, mining operations and infrastructure networks. Even minor stones falls or debris flows may block the traffic on roads and may cause significant economic losses beyond the damages that appear immediately. This also applies to buildings or other constructions under risk of damage caused by rock fallings, debris flows or avalanches.

Rockfall nets

Double twisted wire mesh is a very effective mesh that combines the easiness and flexibility of use with the remarkable cost-efficiency ratio. Commonly used as a cover of the slope, the double twisted wire mesh creates a protective curtain; any stone or residue that dislocates from slope is retained behind the net. Double twisted wire mesh is available with a variety of protective barriers resistant to puncture or corrosion in order to meet the project requirements and the exposure conditions. May be supplied with a range of installation accessories including the mounting rings and the installation equipment, in order to increase productivity on site.

Steelgrid ® HR mesh system is an innovation in the composite mesh technology that offers increased stiffness: high tensile strength with low elongation and high resistance to puncture with limited deformations.

This patented product is an engineering combination between the double twisted wire mesh and high-strength cable in one product easy to install. The presence of the steel cables allows a better distribution of the efforts in the longitudinal superior cables and a lower stretch in the entire protection system.

Steelgrid ® HR is used as a curtain or a bolted facade with superior stiffness when the predictable loads exceed the usual bearing capacity of the double twisted mesh.


HEA is the most rigid product from the wire mesh systems range, offering extreme resistance to reduced stretching. The panels are woven from high-strength steel cables with continuous length, joined at each intersection with the connector "double loop" type HEA, patented. In comparison with the spiral wire nets, simple twisted, the construction of HEA panels creates an exceptional behavior stress / extension with the lowest possible deformation. HEA panels are used in protective coatings applications where low tolerances and high resistance are needed. Due to multiaxial performance of the panel, the loads are effectively transferred to the anchors on the facade slope, regardless of the anchors’ placement. HEA panels made from cables coated with PVC are also available for projects with severe exposure conditions.

Rockfall barriers

When trading, safety, access or other conditions do not allow the implementation of a solution on detachment zones, the barriers in the transition or impact zone can be very effective in roads protection.

Rockfall protection barriers are available with energy absorption capacity up to 8500 kJ. Barriers are designed to progressively deform under load, absorbing impact.

Barriers were developed with the specialists’ help. Such barriers include facilities in order to make the installation faster and safer, reducing on-site labor.

Choosing an appropriate barrier is based on design and economic analysis, taking into account the type and volume of material to be retained by the barrier, the physical characteristics of the slope and the category of road that will be protected. This determines the type, location, height and load capacity of the barrier

Debris flow Barriers

The debris flows are very mobile slides of mixed material and are triggered by the rapid accumulation of water in the embankment, which saturates the ground. These can move at high speeds and can contain huge volumes of material, thus representing a high risk to people, buildings and roads.

The barriers against debris flows are customized to meet the dimensions from the project, predictable from the debris flows and the provided displaced volume.

At the impact with the debris flows, the barrier gradually deforms together with energy dissipators that work on compression and energy absorbing systems. Hydrostatic pressure from debris flow quickly dissipates once the granular material was retained.
